Bold abstract pieces on paper, canvas and wooden panels form this large series of work exploring the mixed feelings and emotions of suddenly being faced with starting over.  The excitement, the trepidation and the many questions all mixed together creating a whirlwind of anxiety but ultimately an amazing opportunity to begin again.

" I wanted to convey the many emotions that I felt during a time in my life when everything felt uncertain; like shifting sands beneath my feet.  The shock of betrayal and the sense that life hadn't been quite as I thought, people not who I thought they were, made me question everything.  The uncertainty and sadness eventually gave way to feelings of huge optimism for what my future could look like.  The paintings just flowed and they were all energetic, vibrant and spontaneous, many appearing to be an abstract landscape or pathway, a journey into the future.

I used spray paint and pattern, splashes and bold brush strokes and applied the paint energetically and intuitively at first,  before leaving each piece to sit, then going back and reworking.  Each piece had many layers of paint applied before I felt that it conveyed the message and intention that I set out to and it was deemed finished.

I hope that the viewer finds them uplifting, exciting, energetic and inspiring and that they bring a sense of optimistic joy to whoever spends time looking at them."     Cath Crowther.
